Hannah would become one of the most remarkable of all Bible characters. Her life would reveal the highest of godly principles, and an example of triumph through submission that would inspire Mary, the mother of Messiah herself. The spirit of this amazing woman would be seen in her passion for the Truth which set her apart from others, in a disposition to prayer that brought her close to God, and in her ability to set the heart of her child alight with her own spiritual fervency.

But the brightest colour would be seen in a powerful sense of purpose which directed her life. That strong and guiding principle coloured her whole being with its tone, and so completely did that purpose envelop her, that her entire life shone with its lustre. It will be our task to discover why it filled her so, and how it made her who she was.

  1. Carmel Payne

This book really shows what Hannah was up against both personally, spiritually and through her relationship with those around her. The times she lived in were challenging and the author really digs deep into how she dealt with this. The first three chapters felt heavy going and I wondered if I would even finish the book. I wanted more about Hannah and who she was as a faithful woman. I wanted to relate to her and felt frustrated that what I was reading was not what I expected! Once you get into the rest of the book though this does happen and her story develops. It was a slow burn for me but by the end was bowled over by her faith. I do think others will enjoy the detail and the lengths the author has gone to to present the full story of her life. Give it a go!

  2. Nicholas Kendall

Our ecclesia has been delighted by this in depth, profoundly insightful and spiritual study. Highly recommended!

One personal regret, as with many excellent Christadelphian publications, is that Our Heavenly Father’s Name and titles are omitted in favour of “Lord” and “God”.

“Praise ye Yahweh. Praise, O ye servants of Yahweh, praise the name of Yahweh” – Psa 113: 1
