David’s just an ordinary shepherd boy whose world has just been turned upside down … he’s just been anointed king. Weird. But even weirder because there’s already a king of Israel. And so begins a struggle of epic proportions. Two anointed kings, one throne. Both chosen by God. Only it’s not quite as simple as who is the strongest, who has the greatest army or who’s the most popular … There would be no war – no fighting for the throne – David would have to wait until God sorted Saul out. Easier said than done when the king himself is increasingly determined to have David removed from the scene. Permanently. An as the king descends into insanity, the stakes get higher and higher and it seems no price is too high to pay.
