This book combines the Kings and Chronicles records to give a history of Israel and Judah from the time of Rehoboam through until the fall of Jerusalem at the hands of the Babylonians in 587BC. The study see-saws between the two kingdoms, looking at Judah one chapter and then Israel the next. Rather than taking the period strictly king-by-king, Bro. Hinde often splits the history into longer sections (for example one chapter is titled “the house of Jehu’). This method has the advantage of allowing the writer to show the overall trends of the history more clearly.
